SAG Awards Earns the EMA Green Seal for the Ninth Consecutive Year
LOS ANGELES (September 25, 2017) – In recognition of its creative environmental efforts, the Screen Actors Guild Awards® has been honored for the ninth consecutive year with the Environmental Media Association (EMA)’s Green Seal. Presented at the 27th Annual EMA Awards on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, a formal gala hosted by Jaden Smith at the historic Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., the accolade recognizes the outstanding green initiatives of the 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards®. The SAG Awards® is the only special event to have received the Green Seal for nine consecutive years.
The EMA Green Seal Program
Created to promote responsible production methods and provide recognition for industry professionals who have made strides by embracing such practice, the Program's criteria provide a practical and comprehensive guide to eco-friendly film, television, award show and gala production.
The SAG Awards makes conscious decisions to respect the environment
The Screen Actors Guild Awards works to optimize online options for both voting and for distributing films and TV programs for consideration. Among many other procedures, the show utilizes comprehensive recycling and composting programs, eliminates idling zones at the venue, employs hydrogen fuel cells as a power source and uses sustainable procurement methods for stage components and even for the red carpet itself.
A heritage of environmental awareness
In addition to its record-breaking EMA Green Seal recognition, the SAG Awards received EMA's Green Production Award in 2013. This honor provided recognition for the SAG Awards amongst its peers for its environmentally progressive operations and ability to surpass its green efforts year after year. The SAG Awards production team is committed to continue sound environmental practices for the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018.

The 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® presented by SAG-AFTRA with Screen Actors Guild Awards, LLC will be produced by Avalon Harbor Entertainment. Inc. and will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 at 8 p.m. (ET) / 5 p.m. (PT). The SAG Awards was the first televised awards show to acknowledge the work of union members and the first to present awards to motion picture casts and television ensembles.
